Passport Services

  • Applicants for Nigerian Passport at the Consulate General of Nigeria, Atlanta or any other Nigerian Mission Abroad must be a Citizen of Nigeria by birth
  • Every applicant including infants must be physically present at the Consulate General of Nigeria, Atlanta located at No. 8060 Roswell Road, Atlanta GA 30350, for Biometric and Biographical enrolment.
  • Original copies of supporting documents for Fresh Application, Correction of Name/Data are required for sighting.
  • Passport application form must be completed online via https://immigration.gov.ng or https://portal.immigration.gov.ng 
  • Cash transactions are not allowed in the Consulate.
  • Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate is open to Passport applicants 9am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (documents submission stops at 12:00pm). 
  • Consulate is not open to Applicants on weekends and Public Holidays (Nigeria and United States of America holidays) 
  • All issued Passports will be mailed to applicants with a returned self-addressed envelope submitted.
  • Applicants are advised to plan ahead and submit their application from 6 months to expiration of their current Passport.
  • All successful payments for Passport Application are valid for one year from the date of payment. Applicants will be required to reapply and make another payment once payment has expired before its submission to the Consulate.
  • Consulate will not be responsible for any error made by applicants on the application form. It is the applicant’s responsibility to correct any error made on application before it can be accepted at the Consulate.

  • All visitors or applicants honouring their appointments should observe the following:
  • Have all required documents ready.
  • Wear face mask always
  • Phone use will not be allowed in the building. All phones should be switched off whilst in the building
  • Must submit to security screening at the gate.

Step 1: Know Your Requirements

Step 2: Select Passport Application Type
Click Apply for Passport and select the type of application you wish to make

Step 3: Fill Application form and make Payment for Passport Online
Complete online application form and make payment at https://portal.immigration.gov.ng. Select United States as Processing Country and Atlanta as Processing Embassy. Read more on how to make payment here.

Step 4: Book Appointment
Click here to book appointment for submission of application and biometric.

Step 5: Be at the Consulate for Biometric
Submit your application with required documents at the Consulate General of Nigeria, Atlanta, 8060 Roswell Road Atlanta, GA 30350. Upon successful submission wait in line for biometric.

Step 6: Await Delivery of Passport by Mail
Issued Passports will be mailed to applicants with returned self-addressed envelope submitted

  • Minor (under 18 years):
  1. Completed online application form
  2. Passport Payment slip
  3. One (1) Passport Photograph
  4. Clean copy of Birth Certificate (Original required for sighting)
  5. Clean copy of parent’s passport data page
  6. Consent letter signed by parent and duly notarized by notary officer
  7. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office

     

  • Adult (18years and above):
  1. Completed online application form
  2. Passport Payment slip
  3. Evidence of Nigerian citizenship (state or local government identification certificate or evidence of birth by parent with Nigerian citizenship by birth)
  4. One (1) Passport Photograph
  5. Clean copy of Birth Certificate (Original required for sighting)
  6. Clean copy of parents’ passport data page
  7. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office
  1. Completed online application form
  2. Passport payment slip
  3. Copy of current (expired/expiring) passport data page
  4. Expired/expiring passport booklet (if not presented will be treated as Lost)
  5. Self-addressed return USPS envelop with appropriate stamp from Post Office
  • Change of Name due to Marriage/Divorce:
  1. Completed online application form (printed copy)
  2. Passport Payment slip
  3. Copy of current (expired/expiring) Passport data page
  4. Expired/expiring Passport booklet 
  5. Clean copy of marriage certificate
  6. Copy of Husband’s means of Identity
  7. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office
  • Correction of error/data on request:
  1. Completed online application form
  2. Passport Payment slip
  3. Copy of current (expired/expiring) Passport data page
  4. Expired/expiring Passport booklet 
  5. Copies of documentary evidence to support the request
  6. Copy of payment slip of Non-refundable Administrative fee of N30,000 payable in Naira only. (read guidelines on how to make the payment for correction of data)
  7. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office
  1. Completed online application form (printed copy)
  2. Passport payment slip
  3. Clean copy of Police Report 
  4. Clean copy of lost/stolen passport data page (Lost/Stolen Passport number is a must, if data page is not available)
  5. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office
  1. Completed online application form (printed copy)
  2. Passport payment slip
  3. Copy of damaged passport data page
  4. Damaged passport booklet (if not presented will be treated as Lost)
  5. Fire incident report if damaged by fire
  6. Written application letter explaining reason for damage of the booklet.
  7. Self-addressed return USPS envelope with appropriate stamp from Post Office

At the moment, processing of Passport applications takes from 6 to 8 weeks. Applicants are advised to plan ahead and submit their applications from 6 months to expiration of their current Passport. 

Note: Incomplete documentation, pending enrollment elsewhere or discrepancy in existing data on Passport may further extend processing timeline.

  • In line with COVID-19 Protocol, the Consulate limits in-person visit for biometric data capturing to only applicants with biometric appointment and a few who select to walk-in without appointment due to exigency and at a premium.
  • Applicants are advised to book an appointment after successful payment for their Passport online and then come to the Consulate only on their appointment date.
  • Applicants must come to the Consulate with evidence of appointment booking on their appointment date.

Name of applicants with appointment will be verified at the Consulate. Applicants without appointment or those whose names cannot be verified at the Consulate will be turned back except those who chose to Walk-in at a premium.
