Visas

  • Depending on the purpose of your journey to Nigeria, there are different types/classes of visas that are available to match your need. Generally, a person not a citizen of Nigeria, planning to travel to Nigeria, whether for the purpose of visit, tourism, study, work or reside permanently, must first obtain a Nigerian Visa.   • Documents not in English must be submitted with a certified translated copy.
  • Copy of all letters should be typed, addressed to the consulate general of Nigeria, Atlanta signed and dated. 
  • Other nationals other than US citizens must provide green card or residency permit stamped on their passport.
  • All visa applications (except Diplomatic Visa) made to the Consulate General of Nigeria, Atlanta are to be submitted at the Nigeria’s Visa Application Collection Centres in Atlanta or Houston. The centres are managed by Online Integrated Services Limited (OIS) who will forward the applications to the Consulate for appropriate processing. See OIS Contact Information here:

Step 2: Complete online application form by clicking https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/visa/freshVisa. Read more on how to apply and make payment online here.

Step 3: Book Appointment to submit completed application form with required supporting documents and enrol your biometrics OIS Atlanta or Houstonn Offices:

  1. To begin your application, click on the link https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/visa/freshVisa. Select United States as the Processing Country
  2. Read the payment guidelines and instructions
  3. Next, click on start application, this will take you to the approved application and payment service provider, Innovate1 Service webpage.
  4. To log in, you must use your existing email account, which can only be a Google, Yahoo or you can use your existing OpenID account. If you do not have any of these, please create a new Google, Yahoo or OpenID account with Innovate1 Services to start your application.
  5. This will now take you to the Visa Application form.
  6. You can now start filling out your application form
  7. Once your application form is completed, review and ensure all information filled out is correct.
  8. Submit your application by clicking on the submit button at the end of the application form. Your Application ID and Reference Number will now be generated and displayed on your screen. Please read all instructions displayed.
  9. Review and click the print and continue tab.
  1. After document has been printed, you will be taken back to the application. Or go to https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/passport/passportPaymentStatus to enter application ID and Reference number on your application form.
  2. You can now continue to payment by selecting proceed to checkout or start another application
  3. On the cart items page, click proceed to online payment
  4. On the next page, read all instructions, check the required box, and select relevant means of payment
  5. You can pay online by Money Order, Point of Sale (POS) or Debit card.

Select a method of payment (Money Order, Point of Sale (POS), Visa or American Express Debit card) and follow relevant steps.

Note: You may choose to exit the application to make payment at a later stage. To return, go to www.innovate1.com and sign in.

  1. If you choose to pay with a money order, make sure to link or associate your money order number with your application, before you submit your payment details. You can do this by writing the serial number on the money order.
  2. Please provide the serial number with other requested information.
  3. After you click the proceed button at the bottom of the page
  4. A confirmation email will be sent stating that your order number and tracking number is associated with a money order serial number. This email does not mean that your application is paid yet.
  5. Your money order should be made payable to Innovate 1 Service/FGN
  6. After you have made your payment, please print your receipt and your acknowledgement slip will be sent to your email once the money order is received and processed.
As part of anti-fraud measures implemented to protect our valued customers, please note the following policy for making payments on the site:
  1. Applicants' first name and last name must match the first name and last name on the credit card used for payment.
  2. Applicants who intend to pay for family members should use the cart which allows for payment for up to 5 applications at the same time – the applicant/card holder and 4 family members).
  3. When using the cart, the last name of all family members must match the last name on the credit card used for payment.
  4. To qualify to use the cart to pay for family, the cardholder must also be an applicant in the cart.
  5. Cards can be used once per month unless registered where applicable.
  6. To ensure that your payment is properly processed, the address on your card statement must match exactly the address you provide on the portal payment page.
  7. The following users are required to register their cards before making payment on the site:
      • Applicants whose first names and last names do not exactly match the first and last names on their credit cards.
      • Cardholders making payments for others.
      • Applicants/cardholders who wish to make payments more than once a month on the site.
      • Applicants/cardholders such as travel agencies or businesses who wish to use the cart to make payment for more than 5 applicants at the same time.
Note that no card holder who has charged back, or card that has been charged back or applicant for whom a charged back card was used for payment shall be able to use a card on this site unless approved by customer service. Same applies to applicants or card holders who are placed on the site blacklist due to fraudulent activities.

Temporary Residence Visas are classes of visas that allows foreign nationals reside in Nigeria on a temporary basis, for the purpose of employment, establishment, schooling, internship, and accompanying employed migrants, students or diplomats as dependants.   1. Permanent Residence Visas allow certain class of individuals to obtain permanent residence status in Nigeria. It is a long-time residence visa. Type/Class of Permanent Residence are as tabulated below:

Definition

F2A Visa is a single-entry short visit visa for non-accredited Diplomats who wish to visit Nigeria for official business.

Non-accredited Diplomats means:

  1. Visiting government officials who are not accredited to Nigeria; or 
  2. Foreign government officials on government business in Nigeria.

F2A – Eligibility

F2A Visa is available to the following categories of persons:

  1. Non-Accredited Diplomats who are on a short visit to Nigeria not exceeding 90 days. They are not permitted to work. Example include:
  • Visiting Diplomats;
  • Visiting government officials; and
  • Visiting security personnel on government business.
  1. Temporary Work Diplomats who are on a temporary duty tour within the Embassy:
  • Embassy Staff;
  • Attaches; and
  • Security personnel.

F2A – Requirements

F2A – Application Procedure and other Conditions

  1. Complete online visa application and make payment here
  2. Submit required documents for F2A visa at the Consulate General of Nigerian, Atlanta.
  3. Duration of permitted stay is 90 days
  4. F2A Visa is not permitted for employment and stays beyond 90 days for non-accredited Diplomats.
  5. F2A Visa permits temporary work not exceeding 90 days within the Embassy for Temporary Work Diplomats.

F2A – Fees

Visa is issued gratis.

Definition

F3A Visa is a classification for transfer/direct transit passengers not staying beyond 48 hours. The direct transit passenger requires no visa.

F3A – Eligibility

  1. Direct transit traveler;
  2. Crew members to enable rotation/changeover of crew members for sea vessels or international airlines scheduled to depart Nigeria territorial waters or airspace within the validity of Transit without visa in line with international convention guiding maritime and airspace operations

F3A – Requirements

F3A – Application Procedure and other Conditions

  1. Transit passengers are permitted to connect flights to the next destination, transfer/direct transit;
  2. Transit passengers are not permitted to go outside the airport; and
  3. Duration of permitted stay for transit passenger is 48 hours

F3B Visa is a Transit Visa that allows transit passengers with an onward ticket to the next destination and crew members for a sea vessel or international airline to pass through Nigeria before proceeding on the onward journey.

F3B – Eligibility

  1. Transit Passengers who have onward ticket to the next destination where entry is guaranteed but wishes to enter Nigeria before proceeding on the onward journey; and
  2. Crew members of joining sea vessels or international airlines scheduled to depart Nigeria territorial waters or airspace for a foreign port within the validity of Transit visa in line with international convention guiding maritime and airspace operations.

F3B – Requirements 

  1. Visa Application form;
  2. A Travel Document. See specification here ;
  3. Crew member certificate (crew members only);
  4. Advance provision of General Declaration (GEN DEC) (crew members only);
  5. Passport Photograph (See specification here);
  6. Evidence of visa fee payment, where applicable; and
  7. Onward ticket to the next destination

 F3B – Application Procedure and other Conditions

  3. Duration of the permitted stay is 7 days.
  4. F3B Visa is not permitted for work and stay beyond 7 days.
  5. F3B Visa is valid for only 7 days from the date of issue.

F4A Visa is a Single-Entry Business Visa issued to foreign nationals seeking to visit Nigeria for short business needs.

F4A – Eligibility

F4A Visa is available to foreign nationals who wish to visit Nigeria for short business needs, such as attending:

  1. business discussions;
  2. meetings;
  3. conferences;
  4. seminars; 
  5. contract negotiations; 
  6. marketing; 
  7. sales; 
  8. procurement of Nigerian goods/services; 
  9. trade Fairs; and
  10. job interviews.

F4A – Requirements

  4. Evidence of visa fee payment where applicable;
  5. Evidence of return ticket;

F4B Visa is a Multiple-Entry Business Visa issued to foreign nationals on a RECIPROCITY basis for the purpose of regular short business visits to Nigeria.

F4B – Eligibility

F4B Visa is available to Citizens of countries who offer a similar multiple entry business visa to Nigerian citizens. Such multiple entry business visits may include for the purpose of attending:

  1. business discussions;
  2. meetings;
  3. conferences;
  4. seminars; 
  5. contract negotiations; 
  6. marketing; 
  7. sales; 
  8. procurement of Nigerian goods/services; 
  9. trade Fairs; and
  10. job interviews.

F4B – Requirements 

  1. Visa Application form;
  2. A Travel Document. See specification here;
  3. Passport Photograph (See specification here);
  4. Evidence of visa fee payment where applicable;
  5. Evidence of return ticket;
  6. Evidence of hotel reservation/host address in Nigeria; 
  7. Evidence of sufficient funds without recourse to public funds; and
  8. Acceptance of Immigration Responsibility by host.

  3. Duration of permitted stay is 90 days per journey (multiple entry) within a 2 years period from the date the visa is granted so long as the passport remains valid.
  4. Number of years to be granted for a multiple entry business visa is subject to RECIPROCITY and passport validity. 
  5. F4B Visa is not permitted for employment.
  6. F4B Visa is valid for only 90 days from the date of issue at the Mission.

F4C Visa is a Business Visa for frequently travelled executives or business persons of international repute with an investment of up to USD250,000 in Nigeria. 

F4C – Eligibility

F4C Visa is available to Frequently Travelled Executives or business persons of international repute with investment up to USD250,000 in Nigeria and wishes to visit Nigeria for the purpose of attending:

  1. business discussions;
  2. meetings;
  3. conferences;
  4. seminars; 
  5. contract negotiations; 
  6. marketing; 
  7. sales; 
  8. procurement of Nigerian goods/services; and 
  9. Trade Fairs. 

F4C – Requirements 

  1. Visa Application form;

  4. Evidence of visa fee payment where applicable;
  5. Evidence of return ticket;
  6. Evidence of hotel reservation/host address in Nigeria;
